Supporting a new team or department can be a significant challenge for school leaders; luckily, the myFolio platform offers valuable tools to ease this transition. Here are some tips for leveraging the Profile section of the platform to drive familiarity and support:
Mindful Minutes: Ask teachers and staff to reflect on their work via the Mindful Minutes tool in myFolio. Allocate time to review the insights garnered to build familiarity with employee sentiments, preferences, and desired support.
5 Words Prompt: Have your teachers and staff share what "Worthwhile Work" means to them via the 5 Words tool. This exercise is helpful for providing insights into team member values and will help you align your leadership approach to their expectations.
Review Profiles and Develop Questions: Examine your team's profiles thoroughly and formulate strategic goal setting questions designed to propel their individual professional growth. This targeted approach will enhance your ability to support direct reports from an informed perspective.
Feedback Preferences: Customize the "Additional Information" section on myFolio to ask teachers about their preferred feedback method, or any other work-related preferences. Understanding these nuances will guide you in providing the most supportive and effective leadership.
Taking the time to engage with the Profile information on myFolio can not only shorten your learning curve, but also allow you to foster a more informed and empathetic leadership style.
